After the lecture, we then interviewed and examined standardized patients (SPs) over 3 days. At first, I was very nervous because I had little confidence. It was very hard for me to talk with an American patient the first time for ten minutes. I sometimes had to pause and there was a heavy silence. The time seemed very long for me. However, after the interview the SP talked very kindly to me and praised my work. I was encouraged by his words. After that, I was able to enjoy the experience. I felt that the more I practiced, the better I did, because they gave us detailed feedback on the good points and bad points every time. Now, I have confidence interviewing the patients in English using simple English and gestures.

（和訳）　講義の後で、私達はついに模擬患者に対して医療面接と診察する日をむかえました。最初のときは、あまり自信がなく、とても緊張しました。初対面の外国人と１０分間会話をするというのは私にとってなかなか難しい課題でした。時々、思考が停止してしまったり、重い沈黙が流れたりしました。非常に時間が長く感じられました。しかしながら、医療面接の後、彼はとても親切に話しかけてくれ、褒めてくれました。私は彼の言葉に勇気づけられました。それ以降、私は楽しんで行うことができました。毎回模擬患者の方々は良かった点と悪かった点を指摘してくれるので、回数を重ねるごとに上達するのが実感できました。そして今では、簡単な英語やジェスチャーを交えれば患者の医療面接を英語でもできるという自信を持てました。
