What I experienced through this program

MICHIRU MORIYA
In shadowing with physicians, I visited Dr. Anzai, whose specialty was Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Dr. Zhang, who worked at a Fertility clinic.
At the hospital of Dr. Anzai, he examined both English speakers and Japanese who live in NY. Especially for Japanese pregnant women, who feel anxiety because they are in a foreign country, he examines and supports their child birth and provides great comfort to them. I was impressed watching him work.
I have never seen the treatment of infertility, so the visit of the fertility clinic was so interesting for me. The treatment takes a lot of time for patients, and so patients who are busy can’t take this treatment easily and all of the patients tend to get tired. But the fertility clinic is open from so early in the morning to so late in the evenin that they can constantly make visits easily. Also there were a lot of workers like doctors, nurses, and specific technicians at the clinic. They worked in cooperation with others and I guessed it made them work easily and have private time.
I felt the system of the US hospitals was advanced and attractive.

シャドウイングでは、産婦人科医の安西医師と不妊治療に携わるZhang医師を訪問しました。
安西医師の病院では、NYに住んでいる日本人を含め、様々な国の患者の診察をおこなっていました。特に、外国にいることで不安を感じる日本の妊婦にとっては、日本人医師が検査をし、出産までサポートしてくれることは大きな安心につながると思います。私は先生の仕事を実際に見て、その重要な仕事に感服しました。
私は日本で不妊治療を見たことがなかったので、不妊治療室の訪問はとても興味深いものとなりました。不妊治療では、患者の治療に多くの時間がかかるので、忙しい患者はこの治療を簡単に受けることができず、そうでない患者も治療に疲弊してしまいます。しかし、この不妊治療室は、患者が通いやすいよう、早朝から午後遅くまで開いていました。また、病院には医師、看護師の他に、専門性の高い技師など多くのスタッフがおり、皆が連携をとりながら働いていたので、日本に比べて、働く人にとっても良い環境が整えられていると思いました。そういった意味で、米国の病院のシステムは高度で魅力的だと感じました。
