The Pre-Clinical Clerkship NYC training

Simulation Training / Pace University After that, at the Simulation Training Center, I had the opportunity to actually practice medical interview with simulated patients for 3 days. The simulated patients were actors ,who usually did training as simulated patients with NY medical school students. This training was also done in pairs ,one serving as a doctor and the other as a observer. We did a medical interview with five simulated patients and went through a 10-minute medical interview and 5-minute feedback cycle five times. Through this training, I was able to feel my English skills improving a lot. Because I was practicing the interview in the class of Pace university before the simulation and the simulated patients were trained so much, I could concentrate not only on English itself but also on the conversation with the patient. Through the feedback, I learned new words and phrases, and also I was able to learn my good points and bad points in my own communication.

Simulation Training / Pace University その後３日間、Simulation Training Centerにて、実際に模擬患者さんを相手に医療面接の練習を行う機会がありました。模擬患者の方々は主に役者さんで、普段はNYの医学部学生などを相手に模擬患者としてのトレーニングを行ってらっしゃるということでした。このトレーニングも２人１組のペアで行われ、一人が医師役、もう一人が見学者となり、合計５人の模擬患者さんと医療面接のトレーニングを行いました。１０分間の医療面接と５分間のフィードバックというサイクルを一人５回、合計１０回行ったのですが、このトレーニングを通して、自分の英語スキルの向上をよく感じることができました。Pace大学のクラスで練習していたこと、また相手がトレーニングされている模擬患者であるということもあり、英語そのものだけでなく患者さんとの会話によく集中することができ、次々と質問や言葉がでてきました。フィードバックでは、新たな言い回しや単語を学びつつ、コミュニケーションにおける自分の長所や短所を学ぶことができ、とても勉強になりました。
